Mount Sanitas is an iconic Boulder peak and one of Kristen's all-time favorite hikes. She chose to paint it as seen from Chautauqua Park to the South because from this perspective, the entirety of Mount Sanitas, Sanitas Valley, and Dakota Ridge are visible, telling the visual story of this dynamic landscape. This iconic 6,863 and the surrounding foothills were uplifted from the bedrock millions of years ago.
