This limited edition series of 30 State Silhouette risograph prints were printed using a risograph printer. They are high quality prints on heavyweight 11x17" paper, signed and numbered on the back by the artist.


Risograph printing is best described as 'digital screen printing'. The process is similar to screen printing, but with the convenience of an office printer. It can produce specific textures and colors that standard printers cannot achieve, and are created with a unique stencils for each individual color. Risograph printers use soy-based inks are are highly energy efficient, making it a sustainable and unique printing method.

Joel Swanson is a text-based interdisciplinary artist based in Denver and part of BMoCA’s Fall 2024 Exhibition, Smoke & Mirrors. He explores the intersection of language and technology in his work, and challenges the norms and ways we think about language. Swanson directs the TYPO Lab at CU’s ATLAS Institute, and is an Associate Professor there.
